Research Project

Heterogeneous supported chromium catalysts catalysts, along with Ziegler-Natta catalysts, are used to produce most of the world’s high density polyethylene. We are currently trying to identify the active site in Cr-based catalysts using spectroscopic techniques including EXAFS. Understanding of the nature of these self-activating active sites would allow for the ability to tune and improve Cr-based catalysts.
